Individual Control (cont.)

Teaching your dog control is a simple procedure, you just have to remain consistent and always be thinking. There are many times during a dog’s day where control can be taught. You can teach control at feeding time, before putting on or taking off his leash, throwing a toy, going outside, getting in or out of the car, petting him, greeting another dog, or greeting a stranger. The opportunities are limitless. You have to be aware of the opportunities on a consistent basis. The more situations you work, the faster your dog will learn individual control and the faster your dog will be able to learn new behaviors and be able to control himself in stimulating environments.
